Mangalamkunnu Ayyappan is an elephant owned by the Mangalamkunnu family, that owns the largest number of captive elephants in Kerala, only behind Guruvayur devaswom. Ayyappan has acted in movies like Anachandam and Naatammai .The Mangalamkunnu brothers discovered Ayyappan in 1992 at the Sonpur fair in Bihar. He has participated in many poorams including the famous Thrissur pooram. Ayyappan's stardom increased in 2006-07 when he carried the idol of Devi for the Paramekkavu section in Thrissur Pooram. With an height of 305 cm, he is one of the tallest elephants in the state.
