1. Mangalamkunnu Karnan (The Emperor of Heights)
മംഗലാംകുന്ന് കർണ്ണൻ: നിലാവിന്റെ തമ്പുരാൻ
Karnan was the undisputed king of Thalappokkam (head-raising competitions). Even against taller elephants, his spirit and stamina were unmatched. His tusks had a unique shape that added to his royal look. മറ്റു കൊമ്പന്മാരെക്കാൾ ഉയരം കുറവാണെങ്കിലും തലപ്പൊക്ക മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ കർണ്ണന്റെ ആത്മവിശ്വാസത്തിന് മുന്നിൽ എല്ലാവരും പതറിപ്പോകുമായിരുന്നു. തറവാടിന്റെ ഐശ്വര്യമായിരുന്ന കർണ്ണൻ, പൂരപ്പറമ്പിലെ 'നിലാവിന്റെ തമ്പുരാൻ' ആയിരുന്നു.

2. Thiruvambadi Sivasundar (The Beauty of Pooram)
തിരുവമ്പാടി ശിവസുന്ദർ: അഴകിന്റെ തമ്പുരാൻ
Originally known as Pookode Kalidasan, he was gifted to the Thiruvambadi Temple by a devotee. His walk (Gaja-nadham) was considered the most graceful among all Kerala elephants. തൃശൂർ പൂരത്തിന് മഠത്തിൽ വരവ് സമയത്ത് ശിവസുന്ദർ നടന്നു വരുന്ന ആ ആനച്ചന്തം വർണ്ണിക്കാൻ വാക്കുകൾ മതിയാക്കില്ല. അഴകിന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ശിവനെ വെല്ലാൻ മറ്റൊരാളില്ലായിരുന്നു.
"ശിവൂ... തിരുവമ്പാടിക്കണ്ണന്റെ തിടമ്പേറ്റി നീ വരുന്ന ആ ചന്തം കാണാൻ വന്ന പതിനായിരങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാർത്ഥനകൾ ഇന്നും അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിലുണ്ട്. നീയില്ലാത്ത തൃശൂർ പൂരം ഇന്നും പൂർണ്ണമല്ല!"

His massive presence and the way he interacted with the crowd made him a true superstar of Central Kerala. അതിമനോഹരമായ ലക്ഷണമൊത്ത കൊമ്പുകളും വിരിഞ്ഞ നെറ്റിത്തടവുമായിരുന്നു വിഷ്ണുശങ്കറിന്റെ കരുത്ത്. മധ്യകേരളത്തിലെ പൂരങ്ങളുടെ ആവേശം കൂട്ടാൻ വിഷ്ണുശങ്കറിന്റെ ഒരു വരവ് തന്നെ മതിയായിരുന്നു.
"വിഷ്ണുശങ്കർ പൂരപ്പറമ്പിലേക്ക് നടന്നു വരുമ്പോൾ ആ മണ്ണ് പോലും ഒന്ന് വിറച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാകും. നിന്റെ ആ ഗാംഭീര്യം ഇനി ഓർമ്മകളിൽ മാത്രം."

Beyond his fame in the movie Aanachandam, he was known for his immense patience and gentle nature during long hours of parading. സിനിമയിലെ ആ വലിയ താരം പൂരപ്പറമ്പിലെത്തുമ്പോൾ പുഞ്ചിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തോന്നിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആ മുഖമായിരുന്നു നമ്മുടെ ആവേശം. മണിക്കൂറുകളോളം പൂരപ്പറമ്പിൽ തിടമ്പേറ്റി നിൽക്കുമ്പോഴും ഒട്ടും അക്ഷമ കാണിക്കാത്ത സ്വഭാവമായിരുന്നു അയ്യപ്പന്റേത്.
"അയ്യപ്പാ... സിനിമയിലൂടെ ഓരോ മലയാളിയുടെയും വീടുകളിലെ അംഗമായി മാറിയ നീ തന്നത് വെറും കാഴ്ചകളല്ല, വലിയൊരു സ്നേഹമാണ്!"

He was the first elephant to be honored with the title Gajaratnam and was the gold standard for discipline. 60 വർഷത്തിലധികം ഗുരുവായൂരപ്പന്റെ സ്വർണ്ണത്തിടമ്പേറ്റാൻ ഭാഗ്യം ലഭിച്ച പുണ്യജന്മമായിരുന്നു പത്മനാഭൻ. ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ ഏക്കത്തുക ലഭിച്ച ചരിത്രം പത്മനാഭന്റെ ഗാംഭീര്യത്തിന് മുന്നിൽ വഴിമാറിയതാണ്.

He was a successor to the legacy of the original Guruvayur Kesavan. പുന്നത്തൂർക്കോട്ടയിലെ ഗജരാജാക്കന്മാരിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ശരീരപ്രകൃതിയുള്ള ഒരാളായിരുന്നു വലിയ കേശവൻ. ഭഗവാന്റെ തിടമ്പേറ്റി നീ വരുമ്പോൾ ആ ചുവടുകളിൽ ഒരു ദൈവികതയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
"ആനക്കോട്ടയിലെ ആ 'വലിയ' തണൽ ഇനി ഓർമ്മകളിൽ മാത്രം. ഭഗവാന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രാ, നിനക്ക് പ്രണാമം!"
Fact Check: Measured at 308.7 cm, making him one of the tallest in Guruvayur. Passed away recently (2021).

"കാളിദാസാ... നിന്റെ ആ വലിയ കൊമ്പുകൾ പൂരപ്പറമ്പിലെ വെളിച്ചത്തിൽ മിന്നുമ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾക്കറിയാമായിരുന്നു, അവിടെ മറ്റൊരു രാജാവില്ലെന്ന്!"
